UCSD Data Mining Contest

Below, you can find information about the UCSD Data Mining Contest given by Fair Isaac and the University of California:

Fair Isaac and the University of California, San Diego have recently announced the winners of the fifth annual UCSD data mining contest. The contest, sponsored by Fair Isaac since 2004, offers students a chance to test their data mining skills on real world data.

In this year’s contest, participants were asked to classify data from a science experiment using primarily unlabeled training data. 188 teams (66 undergraduate and 122 graduate from 18 countries) from across the globe participated, with the winners taking home a total of $8,000 in prize money. Prizes were awarded to first, second and third place winners in four categories: Standard Classification Graduate/post-doctoral; Standard Classification Undergraduate; Semi-Supervised Classification Graduate/post-doctoral; and Semi-Supervised Classification Undergraduate. More information and the list of winning teams can be found at http://mill.ucsd.edu.
