Electronic footprint
On law.com, Scott Andino writes about mining matrimonial data. In his text, he writes that "In today's society, it is impossible to live the average life without leaving a discernible electronic footprint, which can later be retrieved, interpreted and inspected [...]". I think this true, especially in the today Google world. Anybody who has every used any computer, has certainly let some data about him on the memory of the Internet (i.e. Google cache).
